Alright, this may not exactly be a scoop, but The Complete Works of William Shakespeare, Abridged at Angelo Civic Theater is in rehearsal. The casts is Brent Jenkins, Casey Baccus and Lance (Lace) Turner—quite the local star studded cast. You won’t want to miss this. Show dates are November 10-19
If you think Shakespeare is too stuffy, the Austin based Magnificent Bastards will disabuse you of that notion. They are performing the Shit-faced Shakespeare® production of Much Ado About Nothing at The North Door in Austin, Texas on October 6 and October 7 at the Spider House Ballroom.
According to their website, “Shit-faced Shakespeare® is the deeply highbrow fusion of an entirely serious Shakespeare play with an entirely shit-faced cast member. Outrageous raucous and completely unpredictable, the show has been running since 2010 and has already entertained over 200,000 eager theatre goers across the UK and US.”
“Shit-Faced Shakespeare® seeks to introduce a new generation of theatre-goers to the works of the Bard by reviving the raucous, interactive and vibrant nature of Elizabethan theatre with a very modern twist – reminding them as we go to always enjoy Shakespeare responsibly.”
Okay, so it is not exactly Shakespeare, but it’s close enough for us. Angelo Civic Theatre is presenting The Complete Works of William Shakespeare Abridged. If you’d like to see all the plays, but don’t have the time, and to be frank who does, this is the place to see them.
Cast list has not been officially released, but rumor has it an all star trio will be taking the stage. More details to come.
The third production of Shakespeare on the Concho, The Taming of the Shrew has come to an end. Thank you to everyone who helped with it, the cast, crew, costumers, props, the Museum and everyone who attended and has given so much encouragement to this project. We will be back next year with As You Like It directed by Stoddard Owens. Can’t wait.
