If you think Shakespeare is too stuffy, the Austin based Magnificent Bastards will disabuse you of that notion. They are performing the Shit-faced Shakespeare® production of Much Ado About Nothing at The North Door in Austin, Texas on October 6 and October 7 at the Spider House Ballroom.
According to their website, “Shit-faced Shakespeare® is the deeply highbrow fusion of an entirely serious Shakespeare play with an entirely shit-faced cast member. Outrageous raucous and completely unpredictable, the show has been running since 2010 and has already entertained over 200,000 eager theatre goers across the UK and US.”
“Shit-Faced Shakespeare® seeks to introduce a new generation of theatre-goers to the works of the Bard by reviving the raucous, interactive and vibrant nature of Elizabethan theatre with a very modern twist – reminding them as we go to always enjoy Shakespeare responsibly.”

Okay, so it is not exactly Shakespeare, but it’s close enough for us. Angelo Civic Theatre is presenting The Complete Works of William Shakespeare Abridged. If you’d like to see all the plays, but don’t have the time, and to be frank who does, this is the place to see them.
Cast list has not been officially released, but rumor has it an all star trio will be taking the stage. More details to come.
Our second weekend of As You Like It will be underway starting Friday June 16. There are two shows—Friday night and Saturday night. After that you will have to wait until next June to see us again.
SOC will be holding a read through of As You Like It, this summer’s play, today April 2, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at 2611 Oxford Ave. San Angelo, TX

Performance Script – The Taming of the Shrew
June of 2016 Shakespeare on the Concho returns with a crowd favorite
The Taming of The Shrew
What do you get when you cross a spoiled rich boy looking for someone to support him and the rich strong willed woman he wants to marry? Sheer comedy!
This show has been much maligned in recent years because some consider it sexist and misogynist.Nevertheless it continues to be one of the most produced and greatest crowd-pleasers of Shakespeare’s plays. So, there must be more to it that just some outdated story of the battle between the sexes. It has been redone time and again and adapted into several Hollywood films like:
With John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara
Deliver us from Eva
With LL Cool J
10 Things I Hate About You
With Heath Ledger and Julia Stiles
Auditions will be in April.
